8/8-8/10 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Dance Camp (Everyone)
Attached is the schedule for camp next week. This camp is for EVERYONE (both Dance & Hip Hop). Please see the schedule for details (This was sent out last week to your student)
8/9 @ 7:00 PM EC Parent Meeting WHS Theater (Dance Team or if you are doing Field Show)
Parents, if you student is doing field show (going to Florida or on Dance Team) you will want to make sure you attend this meeting. They will be going over what field show is and information regarding the Florida trip in December. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND!
8/10 6:30-9:30 Season Kick Off Beach BBQ (Everyone, Dance & Hip Hop)
Kick off this years season with a family BBQ and bonfire at the beach. Get a chance to meet other parents and hang out. Lots of fun!!
8/11 - Prop Building (Dance Parents)
Are you a DIYer? Do you like crafting or building? No experience at all but want to help, meet great people and get to see your final product on the field? WE NEED YOU! Come help us with prop building for this years field show!
8/12 8:00 AM-10:00 AM The Stand breakfast fundraiser (Everyone)
This fundraiser is for the entertainment corps. I attached the flyer below but come out and support the team and have your breakfast served by this years Dance Captains! Tickets are pre-sale and you can purchase online or by contacting Angela on the flyer. Team Members, family, friends and neighbors are all invited!
8/13-8/17 - Band Camp (Dance Only or if you are doing field season)
The dancers are ready to sweat as they learn their field routine on the field at WHS. It will be HOT so please make sure you send your dancer with LOTS of water and snacks with lots of protein. Also, please make sure you have them lather up in sunscreen, bring a hat (or umbrella hat), comfortable shoes (typically athletic shoes) and clothes. You should have all received the EC Newsletter….If you did not, please let me know asap so I can make sure you are on the EC distribution list. I will try to pass on what I can but if you want your info sooner rather than later, please let me know if you did not receive it.
8/17 - First Football Game! (Dance Only or if you are doing field season)
That’s right, the first football game is before school starts this year and this will be the first performance from the EC! Come out and see what your student has spent their last week of summer doing on the field and help us cheer on our Warrior Football team!!
Football games have certain “rules” for the EC during the game. Captains will go over the rules with everyone before the first game so everyone will be on the same page.
Lastly, uniforms. Uniforms are slated to be delivered during band camp so we will have them by the first football game. I will keep updated if that should change.

Dance Team Banquet Friday, June1
To celebrate all the team has accomplished this year, we will have our 1st Annual Dance Team Banquet this Friday at Dave and Busters.
The Dance Team banquet is not to be confused with the EC banquet that was held last Friday. As the program has grown and expanded, it became clear we needed to have an event to celebrate our season (and also not lengthen the EC banquet which was already about 5 hours long!) The Dance Team Banquet this Friday 6/1, will focus on our team of dancers. It will be more personal and each dancer will be recognized in front of their peers and families for their contributions to the team this year.

For those of you that are part of next years team, this Thursday we will be having a team meeting. In this meeting, measurements will be taken for the team's uniforms as well as a parent meeting to discuss information for next year's team.

First, a HUGE shout out to everyone who came out in the rain to help make Dance Celebration a big success! We do this event without a practice session and our group of parents always pull through with their expertise and willingness to support their kids! This fundraiser wouldn't be possible to pull off if without the help of the parents! And remember, the better we do on raising funds on big fundraisers like Dance Celebrations, the less we have to fundraise or ask you, the parents, to pay for throughout the year!
With that said, we are beginning to wrap up our competition season (only 2 left!). This weekend we are in Glendale. No solos are competing this weekend so our call time will be a little later (y'all get to sleep in a little). Also, since we won't be arriving so early, we are not doing our tailgate breakfast either. The exact call time will be announced later today when the official schedule comes out but for now, please plan on 9 am call time at WHS. AND WE STILL NEED DRIVERS OR WE CAN NOT COMPETE. I have listed the sign up at the bottom of this post.

We had a great competition this last weekend in Riverside! A HUGE shout out to everyone who made the trek out to the IE so our kids could compete. And an extra shout out to Kimberly and Kara for helping with the wigs at the comp!!

With such a great weekend, we get to do it all over again this weekend at Sonora High School!!
I have posted all of the sign up pages for the next couple of comps on our new "Parent Connection" page (link at the bottom). Bookmark the page and never be left out of the loop.
We are in T-minus 10 days until it is showtime for us parents! That's right, it is our turn to work along the side of our hardworking kids and help them raise the money necessary to run their program. The goal is to make this fundraiser as successful as possible so we don't have to do any other fundraisers (work 2 days and reap the benefits for the whole year!). With that said, we need to finalize the programs so we need final answers from your vendors if they are able to donate. And if you see a place that isn't on the list, feel free to pop in and ask. We (Maddie and I) did that with Yogurtland and they gave us 20 gift certificates (valued at $100 total!). Take your student with you as this is THEIR program....make sure they wear their woodbridge flare and show them the letter. We will take ANYTHING they will donate. There are a LOT of vendors that said they would email me or call me and as of today, I have only heard from Jamba Juice. This must be wrapped up by Friday at the VERY latest. The more we have donated by the vendors, the less we have to ask you (the parents) to donate!

I hope everyone has enjoyed the last 2 holidays! Just a couple of quick updates for our upcoming events.
Arlington Golden Classic
Competition this weekend. We need drivers and food for our tailgate breakfast. PARENTS - remember, if you drive you do not have to stay the whole day (of course, it would be awesome if you did!) but you do need to be back by the pick up time.
We are in full swing with Dance Celebration which is just a few weeks away!! If you have already visited your assigned donation locations, THANK YOU and please add in the comments section of the google sheet what the vendor will be donating so we can make our shopping list of what we will still need to buy. REMEMBER, the higher our profit margin through donations, the less we have to fundraiser later (no car wash, tree sales, wrapping paper, etc.) Also, if a vendor is asking for a Tax ID, we provide that when we pick up the donated items (for example, if Chili's is donating chips, we will provide them with an envelope containing a Thank you letter, Tax ID, and team photo when we pick it up.) However, if the vendor is asking for the Tax ID and won't donate without it up front, the tax ID letter is on our WHS Dance Parents group in the files section (link to page below).

Next Comp is February 24th at Arlington High School (Riverside). This competition is far but a lot of fun (one of my favorites...great food, parents, and dancers always have fun!). I’ll post the sign up sheet for drivers but we hope you all can come out and support the WHS Dance Team and Hip Hop Crew!!
We have mandatory Parent Meeting to discuss Dance Celebration (our competition that we host) on January 25th at 6pm. It is mandatory that a parent of EVERY dancer attend!

As you all know, the team is working hard getting everything ready for their Winter Show and first competition of the year. Of course, both of these events are not possible with out the help of parent volunteers (that's you!). Both are listed below for you to join in on the fun!
Winter Show - Revive
Preview Night on Thursday ($5 cash at the door) and than the Main Event on Friday (Online sales - link below or at the door). But the neither show will be possible without YOUR help! We need a few volunteers to work our small snack bar, ticket sales, and donations of baked goods.
Aliso Niguel High School Competition
Saturday we will have our first competition of the year (woot-woot!). First, we need a few donations for our breakfast "tailgate" when we arrive at the competition. We also need drivers to transport the dancers to and from the competition (if we don't have enough drivers to drive, we CAN NOT compete). If you are able to drive on Saturday, you are more the welcome to stay for the day (the dancers LOVE fans!) but you don't have to (you can leave, and come back). As soon as we receive the schedule the exact pick up times will be announced.

Homecoming Pep Rally
Here is the video from today’s Pep Rally! Everyone did a fantastic job!!
What a great week on Dance Team last week! Friday night we cheered the Warriors on to a big win at Friday night's football game against Northwood High (34-8) and got a chance to see Northwood's half time show which was really fun! Then on Saturday, the WHS Entertainment Corps did really well at their first field show competition of the season! 1st in the Division, High Percussion, and Tournament Champions! Woot-Woot! The other schools looked really good as well so it should be a great, competitive season :)

Wednesday, 10/18 - Band Spectacular - This is a great opportunity to come see the field show at a local stadium plus you will be able to view the performances from the other Irvine schools. The details were sent out on the EC Remind (both parents and kids) so you can see the details as far as call time there. I also put it in the detail section for the event on the dance team calendar.
Friday, 10/20 - Homecoming Game - Homecoming is finally here! The EC will not perform their half time show this week as the will be doing the homecoming ceremony which includes skits put together by the students for each class (freshman, sophomore, juniors, and seniors) plus the unveiling of the homecoming king and queen! Lots of fun!! Even though, we are not performing the half time show, the EC will still be performing in the stands during the game. Captains will let the team know what to wear so if your student is unsure, have them check with their captains.
Saturday 10/21 - Small Lyrical Audition - Small lyrical choreographer will be coming this Saturday from 10am-3pm. If the girls want to audition they must be there, choreographer will audition girls at beginning, if they make it they stay if they don’t they can leave.
Saturday 10/21 - 10/22 - SI Convention San Diego - 6 Hip Hop Dancers have signed up to attend this awesome event! We are working on transportation and details regarding pick up/drop off for the students will be communicated to those going separately.
IIFT - IT'S ALMOST HERE!
The big event is fast approaching (Yikes!) and we still need LOTS of help! Each parent of a performer is expected to work at least 1 shift but are encouraged to work more than 1 if they can. This event is a great fundraiser for the EC but of course is not possible without the help of volunteers!!!
